It's the end of August now which means we are two months away from Halloween (my favourite themed holiday) and oh boy do we have some fun and spooky things available. I thought it would be a great idea to kick off our blog with a little look over our Halloween Collection (both part one and two combined) and have a little chit chat about my favourite items, the inspiration behind them, and what I'm using them for!
Let's talk pins first! My absolute favourite pin from the Halloween collection is the Grumpy Ghost. He's sassy, he's spooky, and he's basically me in ghost form... I've stolen two from the stock shelves (no regrets) so that I could have one hanging out on my occult themed pin board and one that comes along with me everywhere I go on my handbag! He's based off one of my favourite sticker designs that we created for our Halloween collection back in 2016 (it's crazy how long ago that was), the "boo-urns" ghost. Sneaky Simpsons references is what Tom and I are all about!
The second pin I want to highlight is Patchwork Sally. It's inspired by my all time favourite Halloween movie The Nightmare Before Christmas (sorry Hocus Pocus, you know I love you too) and features glitter hair with a rose gold metal finish! This was our first rose gold/copper pin and it just worked so well with her colours and felt necessary for at least one of our Halloween pins. If you picked this one up I'd love to know what you thought of the metal and if you'd like to see more rose gold/copper in the future!
The next thing I'd love to chat about is washi. Honestly, washi is a task and a half to have produced. It's by far THE most stressful thing we stock, but it's also one of my favourite things to design so I don't think I could stop designing it... even if it has me turn grey earlier than I should. Now picking my favourite washi design is like asking someone to pick their favourite child, I love every single one of them equally and how dare you make me pick! But seriously, I think my favourite foiled design from the Halloween collection is the sassy ghosts. I love a neutral washi tape because it goes with basically any planner spread you put it with, and silver foil compliments the neutral palatte really well. Plus, how can you go past a bunch of adorable (yet sassy) ghosts?
My favourite non-foiled washi tape (my mums favourite too actually) is the Demofloral Garden design, which was inspired by Stranger Things. Our Candy Skulls design is a REALLY close second, but I felt so clever when I came up with this one so it had to take first prize. I absolutely ADORE floral patterns and thought that combining a monster from one of my favourite series was a really cool idea that I hadn't seen done before! It definitely hasn't gotten as much love as the other washi designs from the collection, but i'll love it more to make up for it (creepy flower teeth and all). <3
I was going to save stickers for last, but we just released the second part of our Halloween Collection so I need to chat about them NOW!
